SCORM 1.2 is one of the most widely used standards for online training content. SCORM stands for Sharable Content Object Reference Model, and it allows eLearning courses to be packaged in a way that a learning management system can import, launch and track. In simple terms, a SCORM 1.2 package is usually uploaded as a ZIP file containing the course content, launch files and a manifest file that tells the LMS how the course is structured. You can read more about the official SCORM standard from ADL’s SCORM overview.
Zero LMS supports SCORM 1.2 so organisations can upload existing eLearning content and deliver it to learners through the platform. Once a SCORM course is added to Zero, learners can launch the course from their dashboard, complete the training online and have their progress recorded inside the system. This helps businesses use existing SCORM training material without needing to rebuild courses from scratch.
When a learner opens a SCORM 1.2 course in Zero, the course communicates with the LMS while it is running. This allows Zero to record key training data such as launch status, completion status, score and pass or fail information where that data is sent by the course. The exact tracking available can depend on how the SCORM package was built, but the goal is simple: give administrators a clear view of learner progress and course completion.
SCORM 1.2 remains popular because many businesses already have legacy training content built in this format. Zero makes it easier to keep using that content as part of a modern training setup, alongside courses created directly inside the platform. For organisations delivering workplace training, compliance training or internal onboarding, SCORM support gives extra flexibility while keeping course management and reporting in one place.
If your organisation delivers workplace health, safety or compliance training, Zero can help you manage course access, learner records and training completion data. For official UK workplace safety guidance, you should always refer to the Health and Safety Executive.
